A Practical Cloud Migration Checklist
Prepare your applications, data and team before moving a business workload to the cloud.
Understand the workload
List applications, databases, scheduled jobs and integrations. Review storage, access patterns and availability needs. Check which components can move together and which depend on services that must remain accessible during migration.
Prepare a migration and rollback plan
Test backups and restore procedures before the move. Define how data will be transferred, how changes during the transition will be handled and when users can resume work. Establish a rollback point if validation fails.
Validate the operating model
Check access controls, monitoring, performance and costs in the new environment. Assign responsibility for alerts, updates and backups. A successful migration leaves the team with a clear way to operate the system after cutover.
